Roles in Collaboration Contracts
Each participant in a Collaboration Contract selects one of five roles for each decision item. These roles ensure clarity and accountability.
All roles agree to abide by the final decision.
The Five Roles

| Explain | Sole Decision Maker - Makes the decision and informs the group | |
| “I’ll choose the ad agency and share the rationale.” | ||
| Consult | Sole decision-maker but seeks input before deciding | |
| “I’ll choose the agency but want everyone’s feedback first.” | ||
| Agree | Collective decision-making. Works with others in the Agree role to decide. | |
| “Let’s decide as a team.” | ||
| Advise | Provides input but doesn’t make the decision. | |
| “I don’t need to decide, but I have helpful insights.” | ||
| Accept | Observer role. No decision-making or input. | |
| “I trust the group’s judgment and will accept the decision.” | ||
| Abstain | Not affected by decision. Non-participant. No decision-making or input. | |
| “I do not need to be involved at all; not even informed.” |
